Fernie sani-dump project facing delays

Fernie residents will have to find somewhere else to dump their septic tanks for a little while longer, with delays in the city’s sani-dump project.

According to city staff, the project is being delayed and re-tendered after the best bid came in at 130 per cent of the projected budget.

The sani-dump replacement was combined with a larger grant-funded project to revitalize a number of parking areas around Fernie.

“Staff have adjusted scopes of work and are re-tendering the projects. We will update Council and the community as soon as we can confirm a timeline for it’s replacement,” said city officials.

In the meantime, other sani-dump services are listed below.

  • Fernie RV Resort – $10 fee – 2001 6th Avenue, Fernie
  • Sparwood Visitor Information Centre – by donation – 141 A Aspen Drive
  • Kikomun Creek Provincial Park – $5 fee – Kerr Road, Baynes Lake
  • Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce – free – 2279 Cranbrook Street North, Cranbrook
