Work on Kimberley’s Swan Avenue Park to begin

Work to build the new Swan Avenue Park in Kimberley will get underway this week.

City officials said the basketball court will be closed off while construction work is going on.

“The park will see children’s climbing apparatus’, children’s zip line, and swings as well as picnic tables, benches and plenty of room to lace up skates in the winter. Once the park is built, the City will continue to maintain the space,” said staff.

Residents are asked to respect barriers that are in place during the evening hours.

Officials anticipate construction to be complete in October.

The project was paid for with the help of grants from Columbia Basin Trust and the Canada Healthy Communities Initiative with support from Health Kimberley.

“Additional in-kind, financial and volunteer support was received from neighbourhood residents, local businesses and contractors, and the City of Kimberley,” said staff.
