Northstar Quad chair lift rebuild progressing

Critical parts needed to rebuild the Northstar Quad chair lift at the Kimberley Alpine Resort (KAR) have made it to Kelowna, with construction set to begin soon.

KAR officials said the drives, cabinets and a number of other components for safety and control systems have arrived and are ready for assembly.

Staff said the parts will be put together by experts at the Leitner Poma facility in Kelowna before being delivered to Kimberley.

From there, the components will be installed into the newly-built lift control building at the top of the Quad chair.

According to Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, plans are in place for a new lift control building, and an upcoming meeting will be held between themselves, Leitner Poma, and the contractor who will construct the new building.

Officials said construction on the new building should start in the near future.

“Everything is on schedule and all efforts are being made to ensure that the lift will be running again before next ski season,” said RCR staff. “Once again we are grateful to Leitner-Poma for generously prioritizing the rebuilding of our lift in their busy production schedule.”
