Vehicle accidents were down in 2021 in Fernie, Sparwood and Elkford according to ICBC’s crash data.
Fernie had a total of 33 crashes compared to 51 in 2020.
The intersection of 9th Avenue and the Crowsnest Highway had the most accidents with four.
Sparwood had six fewer crashes, 22 compared to 28 the year prior.

The intersection of Highway 3 and Highway 43 was the hotspot with five accidents.
And Elkford only had four crashed down from 11 in 2020.
All four were on separate streets.
The data does not include accidents that occur in parking lots or accidents involving parked vehicles.
