A weather watch has been issued for the East Kootenay, Elk Valley and Kootenay Lake, with the possibility of severe thunderstorms in the forecast on Thursday.
According to Environment Canada, the storm could bring strong winds, large hail and heavy rain.
Officials with the forecasting agency advise the public to keep an eye on the conditions and take cover if threatening weather approaches.
“Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors,” said Environment Canada officials.
