Man left with minor injuries after run-in with a train

A man was left with minor injuries after getting out of the way of a moving train near King Street in Cranbrook.

Cranbrook RCMP officials said officers were called out at around 10:20 on Tuesday night to the railway crossing near the intersection of King Street and Van Horne Street.

Police noted that the man was in the path of a moving train. He moved out of the way but sustained minor injuries in the process.

He was taken to the hospital for further observation.

Traffic was stopped for about an hour after the incident.

“Officers on the scene would like to commend the Canadian Pacific Rail personnel for stopping the train so quickly and rendering first aid until emergency responders could get to the scene,” said Cranbrook RCMP spokesperson Cst Katie Forgeron.
