High streamflow advisory expanded to East and West Kootenay

The East and West Kootenay have been placed under a high streamflow advisory after rainfall across the region on Sunday with more coming in the forecast.

According to the B.C. River Forecast Centre, the rain may be heavy at times, and potentially bring a thunderstorm later on in the day on Monday.

“Responses in rivers is expected to be highly variable across southern BC in response to upcoming weather, with rising rivers expected in areas which receive the heaviest rain,” said B.C. River Forecast Centre officials.

That said, experts are not exactly sure where or how intense the rainfall will be. Officials note that it is possible for small and medium-sized watersheds to see high flows on Monday and Tuesday.
