High streamflow advisory in effect for Upper Columbia

A high streamflow advisory has once again been issued by the River Forecast Centre for the Upper Columbia region.

The advisory includes the Columbia River at Donald and upstream.

Forecast Centre officials say ongoing snowmelt runoff from warm temperatures over the past few days is leading to high flows.

They say recent rainfall of 5-15 mm in most areas is also contributing.

Flows up to a 5-year return period possible for rivers, including the mainstem of
the Columbia River at Donald.

They ask that the public stays away from riverbanks until water levels recede.
