One person dead after Highway accident between Cranbrook and Kimberley

Police are investigating the death of one person from a head-on collision on Highway 95A between Cranbrook and Kimberley.

According to RCMP officials, the accident happened near Stirton Road on Friday afternoon, when a southbound vehicle was trying to turn left.

“There was another vehicle behind that, stopped. A third vehicle came upon the first two that were stopped, and for some reason drove into the oncoming lane and hit the northbound vehicle,” said Kimberley RCMP Sgt. Steeve Woodcox.

Woodcox said at least one other person was injured in the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.

“There’s definitely an increase in traffic this time of year. There are a lot of people coming to our community,” said Woodcox. “Always keep an eye on the road and what’s in front of you. If you’re not paying attention, there’s usually not a lot of time to stop before something happens.”
