Sparwood ends State of Local Emergency

With water levels on the decline, the District of Sparwood has ended its State of Local Emergency and evacuation alert.

The SOLE had been extended on June 20, as there were serious concerns over the erosion of the dike at the Mountainview Mobile Home Park.

The District isn’t responsible for that dike since it’s on private property.

The District of Sparwood received permission from the Province, and other regulatory authorities to undertake the work, but it wasn’t needed as water levels declined.

The process may be restarted if water levels rise again.

Residents should still stay away from the banks of creeks and rivers as fast-moving water during freshet can be dangerous.
