Water flushing moving to Echo Field

Cranbrook’s annual water main flushing operation is moving to the area around Echo Field south through the Industrial Park to 4th Street North West this week.

City staff say the annual program addresses many issues within the potable
water distribution system.

The city says that through a series of planned valve openings and closures, crews are able to move water in a single direction at high velocities.

The work removes sediment, scale and biofilm, which greatly improves water quality and lowers chlorine demand.

Residents and businesses may notice discoloured water after flushing is done.

This isn’t a public health concern and can be fixed by running the cold water tap until it runs clear.
