Golden RCMP investigating fatal Highway 1 crash

Police are investigating a head-on collision that killed the driver of an SUV along Highway 1 near Golden on Wednesday morning.

Golden RCMP said the accident was called in just before 8 a.m. near Emerald Lake Road, about 45 kilometres outside of Golden.

Police officials believe the eastbound SUV crossed the centre line and struck the oncoming semi.

The driver of the logging truck was sent to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Tragically, the driver of the SUV did not survive.

No further information has been released about the crash.
