Starting at 6 p.m. tonight, Coal Creek Road beyond its intersection with River Road Extension Forest Service Road will be closed for at least the weekend.
City of Fernie staff say high flows are causing erosion to the road in various locations.
The current Coal Creek levels are not currently causing significant concerns further downstream of this location in city limits.
Barriers are being put up.
Public self-fill sandbag stations are set up at in two locations:
• Railway Ave & Ridgemont Ave (next to TJs Autobody)
• Main Sewage Lift Station parking lot off Mt. McLean Dr at
Mt.Trinity
