Water quality advisory issued in Kimberley

The City of Kimberley has issued a water quality advisory for all users after recent tests showed increased cloudiness in the water.

City staff says the turbidity is starting to rise from the spring melt.

Turbidity is a measurement of water clarity and can indicate a potential health risk.

The water quality was given a “fair” rating.

Boiling the water isn’t required, but it is recommended for children, the elderly, people with weakened immune systems and anyone seeking additional protection.

For these at-risk populations, city staff say water intended for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making juice or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute.

All public facilities must post water quality advisories at all sinks or drinking fountains.
