Accident near Sparwood to impact Highway 3 traffic

Response to an accident on Monday afternoon East of Sparwood will likely impact traffic along Highway 3 on Tuesday.

According to Elk Valley RCMP, the accident happened at about 2:45 p.m. and had the highway shut down while first responders were on the scene.

The roads have since reopened as of Monday evening, but the speed limit has been temporarily reduced to 50 km/h between Michel Creek Road and Carbon Creek Bridge.

Officials with Drive BC said vehicle recovery will take place on Tuesday, June 7th.

This work may reduce traffic down to one lane.

There have not been reports of any injuries at this time.
