RCMP reminds public not to leave fires unattended

As we roll through camping season, the RCMP is asking you to remember to be mindful and avoid leaving campfires unattended.

RCMP officials said it is important to make sure your campfire is fully extinguished before you leave the site.

Anyone caught leaving a campfire unattended campfire could be fined up to $1,150 under the Wildlife Act.

RCMP officials noted that if a campfire results in a wildfire, you could be on the hook for paying all firefighting and associated costs.
