In honour of Indigenous History Month, the College of the Rockies will host two Ktunaxa Nation leaders as guest speakers.
College officials said Bonnie Harvey and Kathryn Teneese will have presentations on June 1st and 8th respectively.
“Bonnie and Kathryn are two dynamic and knowledgeable speakers,” said Dana Wesley, Executive Director, Indigenous Strategy and Reconciliation. “We’re honoured that they will be sharing their wisdom with us for Indigenous History Month.”
College officials said Harvey has travelled to share her knowledge and love through legends, and she will kick off the Indigenous History Month speaker series.
Her presentation, titled ʔaq̓am and Ktunaxa Perspectives with Bonnie Harvey, will happen on Wednesday, June 1, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The following week, Kathryn Teneese will present A Conversation About Reconciliation.
College officials said Teneese is both a former College of the Rockies student and instructor, and has participated in local and provincial public service since the ’60s. She has most recently served as a member of the B.C. Climate Solutions and Clean Growth Advisory Council.
Her presentation will happen on June 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
College staff said both presentations are free to attend in person or online but will require pre-registration.
