District of Sparwood begins mosquito control program

The District of Sparwood has begun its goal to reduce mosquito annoyance within the community.

The district will be using a pesticide management plan approved by the Province of B.C.

They’ve contracted Duka Environmental Services Ltd. to carry out the work

District staff say mosquitos require water and as little as 7-10 days to hatch and develop into adults.

They ask residents to do their part as well.

You should empty any water-holding containers and manage standing waters.

This could include tarped equipment/woodpiles, birdbaths or buckets.
