Improvements being made after boulder fell on Highway 93

Roadside repairs are underway on Highway 93 near Radium Hot Springs after a boulder crashed onto the road last week.

The rockfall was reported on Wednesday morning in Kootenay National Park.

Parks Canada officials say they have had engineering and geotechnical consultants inspect the site.

Work is now underway to improve the roadside berm and catchment ditch.

They say they’re also assessing the need for longer-term slope-movement monitoring and further mitigations.

No people or animals were harmed by the rockfall.
