Columbia Valley RCMP responded to a variety of calls over the past weekend, investigating a break and enter near Radium Hot Springs, making one drug-related arrest near Invermere, and investigating another theft in Canal Flats.
On Monday, September 16, 2019, RCMP responded to the Radium Hot Springs Pools after reports of a break and enter to the construction office at the parking lot.
“Entry was made into an office sometime over the weekend and a computer and first-aid kit were stolen,” said Columbia Valley RCMP. “Police seized evidence for forensic examination and continue to investigate.”
One day later, RCMP made an arrest near Invermere.
Conducting a traffic stop around 9:45 pm along Highway 93/95, RCMP spoke to the driver of the red Ford Taurus when they noticed the passenger in the vehicle had outstanding warrants.
“The passenger was arrested on the warrants and during a search incidental to arrest, the officer located a small amount of what was believed to be illicit drugs,” said police. “The male was held in custody on the outstanding warrants and also faces potential drug possession charges.”
Concluding a busy week in the Columbia Valley, RCMP investigated theft in Canal Flats.
On Thursday, September 19, 2019, the detachment got reports that a Village of Canal Flats dump truck had diesel stolen from the municipality’s vehicle.
“While conducting a scene examination the officer discovered a logging machine parked nearby also appeared to have diesel siphoned from the tank,” said RCMP.
Columbia Valley RCMP seized relevant evidence at the scene to conduct forensic examination.
In regards to the break and enter at the Radium Hot Springs Pools construction office and to the Canal Flats diesel theft, Columbia Valley RCMP are seeking any extra help from the public.
