City of Cranbrook Selling Retired Fire Engine

Cranbrook City Council has approved the sale of their 1995 Freightliner Fire Engine, as Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services is now preparing the bidding process for the retired truck.

Reaching the end of its frontline operational service life, the City of Cranbrook no longer has the capacity to store or cross utilize the fire engine elsewhere. As a result, the Cranbrook City Council gave approval for Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services to sell the truck.

Back on November 26, 2018, Cranbrook City Council asked staff to look at any potential interest around the region, receiving a wide range of inquiries and responses from corporate, private and non-profit organizations.

City of Cranbrook staff recommended that the 1995 Freightliner Fire Engine be sold through a closed bid process, where potential buyers would submit their bids and the highest price being the winner and getting the opportunity to purchase the truck for their bid price.

The City of Cranbrook is anticipating that the Fire Engine may sell for upwards of $10,000.

Wayne Desjardins, Director of Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services told MyEastKootenayNow.com that they are still in the process of posting the bid on the City of Cranbrook’s website, which will have further details about the bidding process.
