Teams Prepare for KIJHL Regular Season Following Final Exhibition Weekend

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League concluded its final weekend of preseason action before the regular season, which officially gets underway this coming Friday.

Over the weekend, the Kimberley Dynamiters took both of their preseason games over the Golden Rockets, sweeping the home-and-home series on Friday and Saturday with an 8-1 win in Kimberley and a 4-1 win in Golden.

At the same time, the Columbia Valley Rockies stumbled against the defending KIJHL Champion Revelstoke Grizzlies, dropping their home-and-home series with a 5-4 loss in Invermere on Friday and a 6-2 loss in Revelstoke on Saturday.

The Fernie Ghostriders finished their preseason with a 5-3 victory over the Princeton Posse on Friday while the Creston Valley Thunder Cats crushed the Grand Forks Border Bruins 12-3 on Saturday.

The Golden Rockets play the final exhibition game in the Eddie Mountain Division on Tuesday as they host the Sicamous Eagles at 7:30 pm on Tuesday at Golden Arena.

The KIJHL Regular Season opens on Friday as the Dynamiters take on the Beaver Valley Nitehawks in Kimberley, the Ghostriders hit the road against the Nelson Leafs, the Rockies battle the Osoyoos Coyotes in Invermere, the Rockets visit the Kamloops Storm, and the Thunder Cats are also on the road matching up with the Spokane Braves.
