RDEK Crews Fight Fire in Rock Lake Area

A small structure fire in the Rock Lake area was combatted by RDEK South Country Fire Departments on Monday and successfully extinguished.

Receiving the call late in the afternoon Monday, 13 firefighters converged on the scene in response, finding that a children’s play fort was on fire.

“The crews did an excellent job of getting on the fire and were able to prevent it from spreading to the nearby Rock Lake campground,” said Dave Boreen, Chief of Elk Valley & South Country Rural Fire & Rescue.

Containing the fire, Boreen said there was no property damage as a result of the blaze and no injuries.

At this time, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, although Boreen said it is suspected to have been human-caused.
