RCMP are continuing their investigation into the death of a 38-year-old woman near Kimberley, as a forensic autopsy supports their belief that the woman’s death was the result of criminality.
Completing a forensic autopsy of the body on Friday, RCMP are confident there was criminal intent that led to the woman’s death.
“The preliminary results of the autopsy support our belief that the woman’s death was the result of criminality,” said Sgt. Steven Rigby of the Southeast District Major Crime Unit. “To protect the integrity of the investigation no further details of her death will be released.”
Respecting the privacy of the family, the woman’s identity will not be released by RCMP.

Originally Kimberley RCMP responded to a location on Highway 95A east of Kimberley on Sunday evening, August 25th.
Officers located an unresponsive 38-year-old woman and attempted life saving measures while the BC Ambulance Service made “extensive intervention” to try and save the woman’s life, although she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A 39-year-old man was taken into custody after the woman’s death, but consultation with the B.C. Prosecution Service led RCMP to release the man.
RCMP are specifically looking for information from the public that were travelling between Kimberley and Marysville that Sunday evening.
“Investigators are seeking public assistance and ask anyone that travelled on Forest Crowne Gate (between Kimberley and Marysville) between 10 p.m. and midnight on Sunday, August 25, 2019, to contact the Southeast District Major Crime Unit,” said Rigby.
Southeast District Major Crimes remains the lead organization on the homicide investigation.
