KIJHL Preseason Carries Into Long Weekend

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey Leauge fires up for the long weekend as the preseason is officially underway, as most teams continue their exhibition schedules ahead of final roster cuts.

In their second preseason game, the Fernie Ghostriders host the Creston Valley Thunder Cats at Fernie Memorial Arena at 7:30 pm on Friday. Both teams will then switch venues on Saturday, battling at 7:30 pm at Creston’s Johnny Bucyk Arena.

The Ghostriders lost their first exhibition game 7-4 to the Golden Rockets on Wednesday.

Golden is also in action over the long weekend, travelling to Revelstoke on Saturday to battle the Grizzlies, who will enter the 2019/2020 season as the defending KIJHL Champions.

The Creston Valley Thunder Cats close out the preseason weekend on Sunday at home against the Beaver Valley Nitehawks at 7:30 pm.

Meanwhile, the Columbia Valley Rockies and Kimberley Dynamiters are just getting their Main Camps underway, as they are slated to play their first set of preseason games next week.

The Rockies open their exhibition schedule on Wednesday, September 4th in Golden against the Rockets while the Dynamiters play their first preseason game at home on Friday, September 6th against Golden.
