Elk Valley RCMP warn of real estate fraud

Elk Valley RCMP has received two reports of scammers attempting to capitalize on the housing market amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to police, these types of fraud can take on many different forms, and it is important for the public to be aware of the danger and protect personal and financial information.

“If you suspect fraud, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation will urge you to not only contact the RCMP, but also the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre,” said the Elk Valley RCMP.

Both organizations provide information and recommendations on how you can protect yourself as a property owner.
