Wayne Stetski Nominated as Kootenay-Columbia NDP Candidate in 2019

Wayne Stetski has been officially nominated by NDP members in Kootenay-Columbia to be the party’s candidate for the 2019 federal election.

Holding a vote in Nelson this past weekend, Stetski was officially nominated by party members.

Currently serving Kootenay-Columbia as a Member of Parliament after his win in the last election, Stetksi served his first term in Ottawa, believing he’s done a great job to date.

“Working for the people of Kootenay-Columbia is an enormous privilege and one I take very seriously,” said Stetski. “I hope that the work I have done in Ottawa on their behalf to date has shown that the concerns of my constituents are my first priority.”

Thanking the NDP members for nominating him as their local candidate for 2019, Stetski said he’s excited to continue to serve the riding if he’s re-elected.

“I am honoured to have the opportunity to represent the NDP for another election and to keep fighting alongside NDP leader Jagmeet Singh for people who keep getting squeezed, while the richest people and richest corporations come out ahead,” said Stetski. “I hope to earn the trust of the people of Kootenay-Columbia once again so I can keep working hard for them and make sure they get what they need from their government.”

Stetski got the approval of Jagmeet Singh during the NDP leader’s recent visit through the Kootenays.

“Wayne is a tireless worker with an unparalleled dedication and determination to stand up for the common good, protect our environment, and make life easier and more affordable for those who have been left behind by decades of Liberal and Conservatives governments,” said Singh.

At this current juncture, only two candidates have been confirmed in the Kootenay-Columbia riding for the 2019 federal election as Stetski will be representing the NDP while Rob Morrison was also recently nominated by the Conservatives.

The upcoming federal election will be held Monday, October 21, 2019.
