Invermere Impaired Drivers Stopped by RCMP

Two impaired drivers were stopped by Columbia Valley RCMP in Invermere over the weekend.

Responding to a report that a white GMC Sierre was failing to stay in their lane on 10th Avenue early Saturday around 12:30 am, RCMP stopped the vehicle and began an impaired driving investigation.

“The investigation resulted in the driver being arrested and held in cells until he was sober,” said Columbia Valley RCMP. “The driver received a 90-day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.”

Police then made another traffic stop early Sunday around 1:30 am.

“An officer conducted a traffic stop with a white Ford pickup near 10th Avenue and 4th Street in Invermere,” said RCMP. “While speaking to the driver the officer noted liquor on the driver’s breath.”

Columbia Valley RCMP said the driver admitted to the officer that they had consumed a couple of beers that evening.

As a result, RCMP issued a breath demand, noting that the driver blew both a “warn” and a “fail” reading.

The driver was subsequently issued a three-day immediate roadside prohibition.
